Building Renovation Passports to accelerate the transition towards a zero-emission building stock.
It aims to accelerate the transition towards a zero-emission building stock in the European Union by increasing both the volume and depth of building renovations. The project seeks to make the benefits of deep renovations more visible and tangible through the use of Building Renovation Passports (BRPs).
These passports provide long-term, staged renovation roadmaps tailored to each building, helping owners and investors identify the most cost-effective timing and scope for interventions.
Equipping buildings with Automated, Massive, and Personalized Renovation Passports as an effective tool to drive deep renovation.

The construction sector, responsible for more than a third of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions in the EU, plays a crucial role in the EU’s climate neutrality goal for 2050. The upcoming revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is part of a comprehensive package to address this challenge. However, despite the general consensus on the importance of renovations, the current rate is barely 0.2%. OneClickRENO seeks to accelerate building renovation in the EU, contributing to a zero-emission building stock. Through the use of Building Renovation Passports (BRPs), it aims to make the benefits of deep renovations tangible, providing a staged roadmap for each building, facilitating planned and cost-effective interventions for owners and investors.
The project will equip the various actors in the renovation process with automatically generated and customizable BRPs as an essential tool to encourage deep renovation.
These will be provided:
- Through a web environment based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Allowing existing tools such as energy calculators or renovation design tools to access BRP generation based on location and user profile.
Owners will have automated, accessible, and easy-to-understand BRPs through simple web tools (one-click). Their coverage and reliability are based on official schemes, data sources, and user contributions. The theoretical renovation paths offered will help public policy makers over time to design and monitor their actions, and professionals in charge of applying the EPBD, who will receive an already compliant BRP that they can adapt to each building or user.
